Cox Automotive Steptember Challenge 2020

Cox Automotive

My Story

Our Steptember Challenge is quite simple - it's about encouraging team members across Cox Automotive Europe to get moving during the month (from 1st September to 30th September).

Team members can either sign-up to walk 10,000 steps every day during September; or aim to do 10,000 steps every day as a team - or with their family.

In the UK, we have decided to raise money for BEN who have been a great support to many team members over recent times as we have faced such unprecedented change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why support Ben?
Ben support the automotive community over the bumps in the road – but  can’t do that without  help. Their services and support really couldn’t continue without the generosity of people like you and companies in our industry.

In these tough economic times, we know some of the pressures the industry is facing. However, Ben can support our community during these difficult times, enabling them to keep going, despite very hard, personal circumstances. We know from countless stories that Ben’s support is life-changing.

Thank you for supporting Ben, to enable us to make a real positive difference to people’s lives - with your help Ben can support thousands of industry colleagues every year. Together, we can provide life-changing support to the automotive community when the road ahead gets rough.

What your money buys
Here are some examples of how your donations make a difference:

  • Your donations go towards the running of Ben's helpline and their frontline client support advisor team
  • £100 enables Ben to provide overnight emergency accommodation to those who find themselves homeless
  • £50 allows Ben to organise a counselling session for those who need someone to turn to
  • £40 pays for a specialist mental health assessment
  • £20 helps Ben keep an elderly person warm during the winter

How Ben support people
Here are just some examples of how Ben help people...

  • They help people like Freddie, a young car manufacturer apprentice whose low wage left him unable to pay his rent
  • They supported transport manager Helen, who struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts after both her parents died
  • They help those like loving father Hugh, who was made homeless after his relationship broke down and he struggled to find new accommodation suitable for his autistic son
  • They supported mechanic Adrian who came to Ben for some support with his mental health and OCD, as it was impacting his work and personal life.
