WeRecruit Auto's Story

Hello, we are Sharron, Mary, Chloe, Siobhan and Diane (Honorary Wing Walker), the WeRecruit Auto team – offering permanent recruitment solutions to the Motor Industry, and apparently whacky charitable fundraising! Having been practically stuck indoors for 2 years with lockdown stopping and starting, what better way to get ourselves out and into the fresh air than a Wing Walk! Yes – that means we’re going to get ourselves harnessed and strapped onto the top of a plane whilst it flies around the sunny Kent skies!

WeRecruit Auto are big supporters of the BEN Automotive Charity and wanted to really challenge ourselves with a daring challenge. BEN is a charity supporting those who work (or have worked) in the Automotive Industry, an industry which we know can be extremely stressful and demanding, BEN supports those in crisis with a range of issues whether physical or mental health, financial worries or anything else.

At some point in their lives, everyone will face some sort of crisis and will need support – so please help us make a difference. Our working life is spent primarily office-based, and we wanted to do something for charity that would really push us, something we’ve not done before, potentially scare us, definitely something out of our comfort zone. Being pretty darn terrified of heights, this Wing Walk basically ticks all the boxes.

If we can push ourselves out of our comfort zone to do this, you can push yourself out of your comfort zone to ask for help when you need it. It’s ridiculously scary – but good things will come of it. We would love your support – once we have a fundraising pot, there’s no backing out! Please help us to face our fears and raise money and awareness for this fabulous cause.

What your money buys
Here are some examples of how your donations make a difference:

• Your donations go towards the running of our helpline and our frontline client support advisor team
• £100 enables Ben to provide overnight emergency accommodation to those who find themselves homeless
• £50 allows us to organise a counselling session for those who need someone to turn to
• £40 pays for a specialist mental health assessment
• £20 helps Ben keep an elderly person warm during the winter

How we support people
Here are just some examples of how we help people...

• We help people like Freddie, a young car manufacturer apprentice whose low wage left him unable to pay his rent
• We supported transport manager Helen, who struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts after both her parents died
• We help those like loving father Hugh, who was made homeless after his relationship broke down and he struggled to find new accommodation suitable for his autistic son
• We supported mechanic Adrian who came to Ben for some support with his mental health and OCD, as it was impacting his work and personal life.
